If you haven’t heard of Walk Score, no worries. It is tricky to keep up with all the new apps, cool features and websites available to us all.
Thankfully, I’d be happy to shed some light on www.walkscore.com, a very handy website that rates the practicality of a home or condo based on the surrounding amenities.
Just by typing in your address, you’ll be provided with a walk score rated out of 100 points, along with a Public Transportation score, also rated out of 100 that helps you understand the convenience of a location.
I’m also happy to report that when typing in 770 Bay, the address for Lumiere, the results are categorized as a “Walker’s Paradise” with an amazing score of 98/100! With so many features around Bay and College it’s no surprise, really.
Try comparing it to an address in, say, Mississauga or Scarborough and you’ll see a drastic different, no doubt!
The density of our condo neighbourhood certainly helps lessen the environmental impact we make. Think about it – the less space we take up and the closer we are in walking distance to our place of work, restaurants, grocery stores, public transit, and stores of all other types, the less inclined we are to use carbon-producing vehicles to get around. Thinking vertical certainly makes more sense.
It would be great to see more green in our neighbourhood. At present, the Bay Street condo corridor is a stretch of mostly glass and concrete. The more shade trees we bring to the street scape, and rooftop gardens to office buildings and condos, the better off we will all be, both visually and environmentally.
Lots of ideas still for the green improvement of the area… yet Lumiere Condos is a great place to be!
