Notice the progress on Bay Street with the new research tower nearing completion on the west side of Bay Street, just between Gerrard and Elm Street?
The building is 21 storeys of labs, research areas and meeting spaces, which effectively make it the ultimate medical learning centre.
Right from the Sick Kids Hospital website itself, it states that:
“The new SickKids Centre for Research and Learning will be a hub where researchers and learners can congregate and share ideas to transform the current state of child health care. Standing as a testament to the past, present and future scientific achievements of SickKids, the Centre will be an architectural landmark joining the list of major projects developed by star architects.”
With its mix of cubic angles and voluminous curves, the architecture certainly makes a mark on the landscape of Bay Street. No doubt the ideas, research and collaborations that take place inside the building will be just as amazing.
