Zavida Coffee at the base of Aura Condos has quickly become my go-to coffee shop in the neighbourhood. I like it because it is one-of-a-kind but has a solid long-term business behind it. Zavida Coffee has actually been selling beans in the retail environment for some time now, but this actual coffee shop is a first for the company, which allows them to showcase their selection of beans alongside other hot and cold beverages and a delicious selection of pastries too.
You’ll find the coffee shop nestled into the exterior portion of The Shops At Aura right in between Yonge Street and the residential entrance to Aura Condos. It’s easy to miss as the storefront is small, but look for the sandwich boards and the recently added overhead signage to steer you in the right direction.
Zavida Coffee is actually one of three retails spaces that occupy the north side of Aura Condos, with the other two spaces currently vacant (on the west side of the residential entrance). Once the Barbara Ann Scott park revitalization is complete, which includes the strip of land that runs between Aura and College Park, this Coffee Shop will be primely situated just off of Yonge Street with a serene patio space.
The coffee shop places an emphasis on the environment with their espresso beans and milk being organic. When you order a latte, for instance, everything is organic, and there is no premium on the price for that. The decaffeination process for their beans is also all natural, which avoids the more common-place chemical process that you find with other decaffeinated drinks. On top of that, they also plant one tree for every ten cups of coffee that they sell!
Stop by and check out Zavida Coffee for yourself. I think it’s a great local addition to our neighbourhood.
